Warm Isostatic Presses

Quintus designs, produces and delivers warm isostatic pressing equipment from small monolithic systems to extremely large wire-wound machinery.

Scalable warm isostatic presses from Quintus

Warm Isostatic Pressing (WIP) is used to consolidate polymer, metallic and ceramic materials to ensure density and remove porosity in material. WIP is similar to CIP, but uses slightly elevated temperature, typically up to 170⁰C.

Extreme temperature uniformity

Temperature control throughout the load is critical for many products that are produced using WIP. This is so as not to over-heat or under-heat products and to maintain quality throughout the batch. Here Quintus is the leader.

More efficient production

Quintus WIP equipment can be delivered in either vertical or horizontal loading configurations, from small scale equipment to extremely large production machinery. This scalability allows mass production at minimal cost.

Process media

Typical pressures from 1,035 to 6,000 bar (15,000 to 87,922 psi) at elevated temperature WIP can achieve high density components. Elevated temperature is used to relax materials to aid compaction.

The gamechanger for future energy storage

Warm isostatic pressing has been shown to be extremely important to achieve improved conductivity in future battery solutions.

Warm Isostatic Pressing, WIP, is a technology that is used for achieving maximum uniform powder compact density, using a heated, pressurized liquid media. Common pressure media include water, emulsion or oil, pressurized to 600 MPa at temperatures up to 145°C.

The combination of pressure and temperature is used to maximize a powder compacts homogeneous densification by e.g., softening the polymer binder between brittle particles, or for activating additional slip systems in ductile metals, to facilitate reordering of particles for improved densification.
