Reducing heat treatment distortion through High Pressure Heat Treatment (HPHT™)

Heat treatment distortion remains a key challenge in producing high-performance metal components, often increasing costs and reducing yield. This whitepaper explores how High Pressure Heat Treatment (HPHT™), which integrates heat treatment and hot isostatic pressing into a single cycle, can improve dimensional stability and process consistency.

The study compares F357 aluminum, Inconel 718, and 15-5 PH stainless steel. Results show that HPHT can significantly reduce distortion, up to about 70% in quench-sensitive alloys. It also improves repeatability while maintaining mechanical properties.
