Task description
The aim of this thesis is to investigate opportunities to develop a modular and standardized container platform for Quintus Technologies’ products. These containers serve as structural frames, equipment enclosures and transport units, enabling equipment to be pre-assembled and tested before installation at customer sites.
Today, the containers vary in dimensions, structural designs and various technical interfaces, resulting in design complexity and manufacturing variation. Furthermore, sensitive external components limit their compatibility with conventional container transportation.
The study will investigate how standardized structural elements, interfaces and scalable design principles can be combined into a flexible container platform. Particular attention will be given to design adaptations that enable conventional container transportation while supporting efficient manufacturing, pre-assembly and installation.
Alternative modularization concepts will be developed and evaluated based on technical feasibility, design flexibility, manufacturing efficiency, transportation requirements and potential lifecycle cost reductions.
Primary research question:
How can a modular equipment container platform be developed to reduce design variation and lifecycle costs while improving manufacturability, assembly efficiency and compatibility with conventional container transportation?
