Background
Quintus is currently developing its product strategy with a strong focus on modularization. Modular products can create greater flexibility, scalability and efficiency while enabling customer-specific configurations based on standardized building blocks.
A similar opportunity may exist within the aftermarket business. Quintus offers a broad range of services throughout the lifecycle of its equipment, including spare parts, maintenance, technical support, training, upgrades and retrofit solutions.
The concept of service modularity suggests that services can also be designed as standardized modules or “building blocks” that can be combined into different customer-specific offerings. However, how such a modular service architecture should be designed in a complex industrial OEM environment is not obvious.
Task description
The objective of the thesis is to investigate how Quintus can develop a modular aftermarket service architecture based on standardized service building blocks.
The project should investigate current theories on service modularity, servitization and Product-Service Systems and apply them to the Quintus aftermarket business.
The thesis should result in a proposed service architecture, including potential service modules, their interfaces and dependencies, and examples of how the modules could be combined into different customer offerings.
Focus of the study should be our offer within Quintus Care; which is a comprehensive program of spare parts and services for the aftermarket.
