America Makes and the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) have announced the winners of the Corrosion of Additive – Tested at Component Scale (CATACS) project call, funded by the U.S. Department of Defense’s Manufacturing Technology Office and valued at $1.3 million. The initiative aims to develop and validate a framework for evaluating corrosion performance in metal additive manufacturing (AM) components.
Quintus Technologies is part of the project team led by the Colorado School of Mines, working alongside leading research organizations and industry partners. The project will focus on corrosion testing of AM components used in thermal management systems, helping generate data and testing methods needed to support qualification and certification of AM metal parts.
By addressing key gaps in corrosion testing and performance validation, the CATACS program seeks to accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing in high-performance defense applications and strengthen manufacturing readiness across the defense industrial base.
