Fluid System Engineer

Västerås, Sweden
Mid-level
Full-time

Are you an engineer with experience in hydraulics, fluid mechanics or industrial system design? Quintus Technologies is looking for a Fluid Systems Engineer to work with advanced fluid systems, technical calculations and system design in complex high-pressure machines.

Quintus Technologies is growing and we are now looking for a Fluid Systems Engineer to join our engineering organization in Västerås.

This is a broad engineering role for someone who enjoys combining technical calculations, system design and problem-solving with close collaboration across projects, suppliers and production. You will work with advanced machines used by customers worldwide and with systems where hydraulics, gas, cooling, water and vacuum come together.

The role

As a Fluid Systems Engineer, you will take responsibility for fluid systems within customer order and development projects, from specification and dimensioning through design, manufacturing, installation and technical support.

Your work will include:

  • designing and dimensioning hydraulic, cooling, gas, water and vacuum systems
  • performing flow, gas, heat transfer and cycle-time calculations
  • developing flow and hydraulic diagrams, system requirements and functional specifications
  • ensuring safe designs in accordance with applicable standards and requirements
  • collaborating closely with automation, mechanical engineering and suppliers
  • supporting procurement, production, installation, Field Service and aftermarket
  • participating in design reviews, testing, troubleshooting and technical risk assessments
  • contributing to the development of products, processes and engineering tools

Depending on the assignment, you may manage several smaller projects in parallel or take a key role in a larger development project over a longer period.

Who are we looking for?

We believe you have an engineering degree within a relevant field, preferably an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, together with a few years of relevant engineering experience.

Experience within one or several of the following areas is particularly relevant:

  • hydraulics
  • fluid mechanics
  • thermodynamics
  • gas and cooling systems
  • heat transfer
  • industrial system design

Experience in hydraulics is highly valued, but you do not need to have worked with every type of fluid system before joining Quintus.

You are analytical, proactive and comfortable taking responsibility for technical problems. You enjoy collaborating with colleagues, suppliers and other specialists and are curious to continue developing your technical expertise.

Fluent spoken and written English is required. Swedish is an advantage but not a requirement.

The team and your interfaces

You will be part of a Fluid Systems Engineering and work closely with Project Management, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Procurement, Production, Field Service and Aftermarket.

You will also collaborate with suppliers and occasionally visit suppliers or customer sites. Travel is normally limited to a few trips per year and is generally planned well in advance.

Why Quintus Technologies?

At Quintus, you will work with technically complex machines and advanced engineering solutions for an international customer base.

The role combines theoretical engineering with practical application. You will not only calculate and specify a system, but also see how it is manufactured, installed and performs in operation.

Quintus has experienced several years of growth and you will join an experienced engineering environment where knowledge is shared and where there are excellent opportunities to continue developing as a technical specialist.

Location

The position is based in Västerås, Sweden.
