Robust Metal Additive Manufacturing  Process Selection and Development for Aerospace Components

Metal additive manufacturing (AM) offers various processes for industrial needs, but selecting the right one for aerospace applications can be challenging. This article provides an overview of considerations for choosing metal AM processes, covering geometric, metallurgical, cost, post-processing, and supply chain factors. Data from literature reviews, internal NASA studies, and academic and industry partner studies are summarized to aid in the design of metal AM components.
