In-HIP Rapid Cooling of High-Strength Silicon Nitride

There are four main advanced ceramics focus areas where Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) is a key technology to achieve ultimate properties for the material system. In a series of White Papers, we explore the possibilities and benefits that becomes available for these materials using Quintus HIP and Uniform Rapid Cooling, URC®:

» “Hot Isostatic Pressing of Polycrystalline Translucent and Transparent Ceramics”, an in-depth exploration of material systems such as YAG (alumina-yttria garnet) and GOS (gadolinium-oxisulfide) as well as transparent armor materials such as alumina-magnesia spinel or AlON (aluminium-oxinitride).
» “In-HIP Rapid cooling of high-end Zirconia Toughened Alumina, ZTA”, where URC® rapid cooling have the potential to double productivity in the HIP densification step
» This paper, discussing HIP silicon nitride, HIPSN, regarding the potential for increased HIP productivity and cost reductions, tailoring grain boundaries and maximizing HIP heater life.
