Microstructure evolution-based design of thermal post-treatments for EBM-built Alloy 718

The study investigates how different thermal treatments affect the microstructure of EBM-made Alloy 718.

It finds that lower-temperature HIPing closes defects without excessive grain growth. Solution treatment causes d phase precipitation, influenced by temperature. Cooling rate after treatment impacts material hardness. Aging treatment can be significantly shortened while maintaining desired hardness.

These insights help design tailored post-treatment procedures for EBM Alloy 718.
