The Ford New Model Programs Development Center in Dearborn have successfully operated a 93,000 ton Quintus Flexform press for more than two decades. The Flexform process is used for low volume sheet metal fabrication and for prototype development, where complex shapes and high part quality is required. Quick time to market is a key feature in all Flexform activities, as well as the low tool cost to produce parts. Typically, Flexform parts within Ford range from body-in-white components to skin panels like roofs and doors. The process is also ideally suited for a large variety of blank material and thicknesses.
