The Process: High Pressure vs Low Pressure

  • The part formed at 350 bar came from a pre-cut blank with a width of 145mm.
  • The blank for the 800 bar test was 160mm width, with the extra material used for the shrink flange and draw dam with cutting edge.
  • If the larger blank would have been used to form the 350bar part, then there would have been an even greater increase in wrinkling.
