Laminado isostático

El mismo proceso básico que se usa para los polvos metálicos y la cerámica se puede usar para el laminado de los componentes de la industria electrónica, modificándolo levemente al aumentar la temperatura (normalmente hasta 90 °C). Los rangos de presión del laminado siempre han sido entre 5000 y 10 000 psi (entre 344 y 688 barias). Desarrollos recientes en la industria han indicado que los rangos de presión futuros podrán ser entre 30 000 y 60 000 psi (entre 2068 y 4136 barias). Quintus ha desarrollado una serie de prensas de laminado isostático (ILP) de alta presión para el laminado rentable de una variedad de componentes electrónicos, que incluyen capacitores cerámicos multicapa (MLCC), cerámicas sinterizadas a baja temperatura (LTCC), chips híbridos, ferritas, paquetes de elementos de metal base, piezoeléctricos multicapa, dispositivos de implante y dispositivos electrónicos médicos, filtros electrónicos, varistores, componentes Bluetooth, células de combustible y otros módulos multicapa.

Las prensas de laminado isostático tienen un índice de producción de hasta 20 veces mayor que las prensas de platina térmica uniáxica tradicionales.

Las cestas de trabajo grandes totalmente accesibles contienen numerosas piezas embolsadas al vacío en pilas horizontales o filas verticales, y pueden alojar paquetes de hasta 50 cm (20 in) de largo. Se pueden laminar múltiples paquetes de diversos tamaños en un solo ciclo de 3 a 10 minutos.
